RUTH, MAUREEN & SELMA'S WINTER 2009/2010

While Israel was "suffering" from a Chamsin, most of the Western World this year was gripped by a severe winter the likes of which have not been seen for many years. The 3 of us were taken by surprise one day in January when we woke up to find that about 6 inches of snow had fallen overnight. Of course, we immediately took out our camera and started snapping away.
Although the snow didn't last very long where we live, unfortunately in other parts of England and Europe it looked as though winter had come with a vengeance and wasn't about to leave in a hurry.
In March we travelled to Sweden to join in the celebrations of our Aunty Bebe's 90th birthday. We were thrilled to see all our Swedish relatives once again and had a very enjoyable time. However, not so enjoyable was the fact that there was still at least 2 feet of snow around although this didn't stop us from travelling a little here and there.
One day, we took the train to see one of our cousins and the journey reminded us of a scene straight out of Dr. Zhivago. Looking out of the train window all we could see was miles of bleakness with the occasional snowed-in farm in the distance.
The main towns of Sweden were not quite so cut off as people were employed to clear the streets and to shovel off the snow from roofs of houses and they even had special dumping areas to put the mountains of snow they had collected.
We took many photos, some of which are shown below. ROLL ON SUMMER!!

The above 4 photos were like scenes from Dr. Zhivago
